WEAVINGS FROM PERU
Mad Hatter & Company carries bags, scarves and runners, intricately hand woven by the women of Rumira Sandormayo. Paulette goes to Peru and works directly with the women of Rumira Sandormayo.
The first image to the left shows Simeana setting up her loom in preparation to create a purse design inspired by a picture that Paulette had provided. This is a part of our process. It is always exciting to see the final outcome!
The women of Rumira Sandormayo are introduced to the process of weaving at the age of eight. The tradition of weaving dates back thousands of years. One look at these weavings and it is difficult to believe they are made of human hands.
